I’ve just come back from a Body Shop ‘home’ party. And whilst i had a good time it really doesn’t sit well, for me at least, for a representative - the host - to preach about The Body Shops ‘ethics’, yes, it’s great TBS don’t test on animals but you don’t like to mention being owned by L’oreal & Preaching that more customers need to be aware of where your cosmetics are coming from, how ‘green’ they are and most importantly stating that THEY are the reason for animal testing being banned in Europe - Yeah because that’s true ….

I can say one thing, i will never be more grateful for the information and awareness i have now have thanks to LUSH. A couple of years ago i didn’t really care or seek out information on where my cosmetics came from, companies stance on animal testing, who companies are owned by and do they test on animals or even how ‘ethical’ a company is. 90% of all products i use being cruelty free - bath, hair and body, and whilst the other 10% of products i use (being my make-up) which aren’t so bunny friendly. I do aim to replace my make-up  with something better and animal friendly but at least i am informed consumer.

It saddens me to think how much of my love for Lush has gone. It didn’t really occur to me how much so until pointed out to me yesterday, when my sister said something negative about Lush and i didn’t even try to argue against it, i actually agree and have done for some time. Some people might think it’s sad that i care so much for a ‘cosmetics’ company, but it’s more than to me (or at least used to be) and is for so many others.

It’s saddening that most lush SA’s are so passionate about the company and have so much faith in its products when the people at the very top care so little for its customers, often belittling/insulting them and turning a blind eye to many many problems that they refuse to fix. But you know what, i can’t keep spending money on bubble bars that are rock solid, that if you threw at someone could do some damage. It’s pretty shocking. ‘nd lets not talk about scent issues.

I’m not saying i won’t be buying from them anymore, i’m just buying a lot  less as it’s not the same company i fell in love with a few years ago. I want to love lush but right now i’m just not feelin’ it.

For anyones that interested this makes for a good read on Lush’s “ethics”. There are a few posts and are well worth the read.
